Girls Quest is a nonprofit organization that nurtures girls to help them achieve their full potential and become active members of their communities by building academic and social competence. Since 1935, Girls Quest has served over 60,000 girls; each year Girls Quest enrolls over 300 girls ages 8-14 from the greater New York City and Catskills regions in its programs. Our girls participate in a series of educational and social activities that promote literacy, teamwork, creativity, and leadership. Explore Planned Giving
Seventy years ago, Ruth and Willard Kauth had the foresight to start a summer camp program to give New York City girls living in poverty the same chances that other organizations were offering to boys. Girls Quest is the proud descendant of their vision.

The Kauths’ generosity of spirit has been matched by the generosity of several donors who have made substantial gifts over the years. These donations have allowed us to grow into one of very few organizations which own its campsite. The gifts have also given us a modest reserve fund, which has enabled us to maintain our program in years in which other sources of funds have fallen.

As a testament to the Kauths and their legacy, at this time Girls Quest is proud to announce the creation of the Ruth and Willard Kauth Society to recognize those donors making significant gifts and/or who include Girls Quest in their estate planning. We are delighted to report on the two founding gifts:

  • Ms. Anne Jermusyk, an alumna of our programs who has been a dedicated supporter over many years, has agreed to make a generous grant annually for the next ten years from her family’s foundation.
  • Ms. Maureen O’Gorman, former Vice President of the Board and current Board member, has included a bequest to Girls Quest in her will.

We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Jermusyk and Ms. O’Gorman as charter members of the Kauth Society. If you have already made provisions to name Girls Quest a beneficiary in your will, please let our Director of Development, Carl Niedzielski, know, so that we can recognize your generosity.

If you are considering making a similar gift or bequest—or a long-term pledge—and have questions, Carl would be pleased to answer them and coordinate with your attorney.

Sponsor a Girl in One of Our Programs

You can make a significant difference in the life of our girls by becoming a SEED Sponsor. A contribution of $1700 will cover the cost of a girl’s two weeks at Camp Oh-Neh-Tah, offering her an incredible outdoor experience. At Camp Oh-Neh-Tah, our girls have a space to be themselves, a place to explore and discover in a safe, enriching environment. Moreover, after her summer session ends, our girls will continue to be part of Girls Quest’s year-round programming.

You can make that happen. By becoming a SEED Sponsor, you will enable a deserving girl the opportunity to participate in our program. You will provide an opportunity to support our girls as they develop the confidence, leadership and character they need to become tomorrow’s leaders!

Sponsor a Mentor Match for 1 Year - $1000

By sponsoring a Mentor Match, you can support a young girl and her one-to-one relationship with a volunteer mentor. Our Mentor Program provides our girls, ages 12-17, with year-round support networks that are often missing from their lives. These relationships with women who have achieved success in their careers and personal lives help our girls to see beyond the limited opportunities their families and communities may have led them to expect from life.
